Laura’s fascination for fashion bloomed in high school and spurred her to train at TAFE SA. Here she experimented with fabric manipulation, however, pattern making won her passion.
Fresh out of TAFE, Laura’s pattern making talent was snapped up by Adelaide’s iconic Razak Designs. Since then she has plied her trade at some of South Australia’s best-known fashion houses, such as Liza Emanuele, where she helped many brides realise their dream gown. She achieved this feat with her ability to bring meticulous pattern making skills into fitting consultations.
For the last five years, Laura has worked at Australian Fashion Labels (AFL), initially on AFL’s five labels and then exclusively as senior garment technician for their Keepsake label. A highlight at AFL was a six-month stint at their China office where she developed her knowledge of off-shore manufacturing.
Laura’s pattern making expertise can provide the integral middle step for transforming a design concept to a beautiful, functional and well-fitted garment. Fit is the designer and dressmaker’s holy grail. Laura’s services offer this - pattern making from photos or sketches, patterns for small collections, crafting personal blocks and constructing toiles for testing a pattern.
